AllLife Foundation -- A private, independent foundation, strives to help
people achieve their potential by expanding access and success in education
beyond high school.

Our Mission
The mission of AllLife Foundation for Education is to expand access to
postsecondary education in the United States. The Foundation seeks to identify
and promote practices leading to improvement in the rates of entry and success
in education beyond high school, particularly for students of low income or
other underrepresented background. The Foundation carries out the mission
through funding and conducting research; communicating ideas through reports,
conferences and other means; and making grants to educational institutions and
other nonprofits for innovative programs. It also devotes limited resources to
contributing appropriately in support of selected community and other charitable
organizations.

Theme Areas
In pursuing our mission, we focus on three theme areas:
 | Access
Addressing the multiple barriers that impede access to postsecondary
education among traditionally underserved groups.
|
 | Success
Supporting efforts that help these students attain sound educational
objectives.
|
 | Adult learners
Understanding and addressing the challenges faced by adult learners,
particularly those who face barriers, such as low income or academic
under-preparation. |
The Foundation is based on the belief that postsecondary education
remains one of the most beneficial investments that individuals can make
in themselves and that society can make in its people.

Our Values
AllLife Foundation for Education will adhere to the highest principles
articulated by the Council on Foundations. AllLife Foundation will embrace the
following values:
Quality: In program administration, grant making, research and
publications, we will adhere to the highest standards of excellence.
Credibility: We will conduct philanthropic, research and educational
efforts according to the highest professional and ethical standards, so as to
earn the respect of recipients, observers and practitioners.
Openness: Recognizing that good work does the most good when it is freely
shared, we will operate in an open and candid manner and so foster a healthy
exchange of ideas.
Trust: We will earn a high degree of public trust through effective use
of the resources committed to the Foundation’s stewardship and through strict
adherence to the laws and regulations that permit it to thrive. We will develop
an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect among the Foundation’s board, staff,
colleagues and grantees.
Leadership: We will recognize and affirm the tenet that greatness can
occur through all people and that individual leadership operates throughout the
organization.
Shared learning: Resisting the influences of arrogance that can accompany
philanthropic power, the Foundation will share with its board, staff, colleagues
and grantees the principles of a learning organization. We will accomplish this
by effectively evaluating our work and then communicating the lessons learned
from our successes and failures.
Thinking expansively: The Foundation's financial and human resources
permit its board and staff to think big, stretch imaginations, and create novel
solutions. At the same time, the Foundation will demonstrate the ability,
responsibility and commitment to taking a long-term view.
Integrity: In all of our dealings, internally and externally, Foundation
staff and directors will operate with the soundest principles of honesty and
good character.
